Off-Duty Police Officer Hailed Hero For Saving Woman's Life On Cape Cod

WALTHAM, MA (WBZ-AM) --  An off-duty Waltham Police Officer is being hailed a hero for helping save a woman's life on Cape Cod. 

Veteran Waltham Police officer Paul Tracey was on vacation at South Yarmouth Resort when he noticed a woman in distress on the beach. She was unresponsive after overdosing on drugs.

"Clearly she was not breathing, her pupils were fixed and dilated she had no pulse, we we immediately started CPR and my brother Jerry ran to the front desk to see if they had a defibrillator" Tracey said.

First reponders arrived and administerderd Narcan to the woman, then rushed her to the hospital. They and doctors are crediting Tracey with savign the Woman's life. Tracey says all in a day's work.

"You can't just do nothing. and i don't think any off-duty cop or off-duty fireman would have done so either," Tracey said.
