NightSide with Dan Rea – Rundown for August 10, 2018

Dropping the Ball?  Thursday night kicked off a slew of NFL preseason games and produced scattered players around the league taking knees during the national anthem.  About the situation, President Trump tweeted “The NFL players are at it again - taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem. Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their “outrage” at something that most of them are unable to define. They make a fortune doing what they love......”  He followed that up with “.....Be happy, be cool! A football game, that fans are paying soooo much money to watch and enjoy, is no place to protest. Most of that money goes to the players anyway. Find another way to protest. Stand proudly for your National Anthem or be Suspended Without Pay!”  The NFL tried to implement a policy this offseason but it didn’t stick, leading into another season with no rule in place on standing for the anthem.  Dan discusses possible NFL rules to put an end to this and takes your calls!

Changing Your Name When Married?  The age-old tradition of a woman taking her husband’s last name seems to be happening less these days.  This is either due to the difficulty of changing their name, for professional reasons or to keep their own family name.  Another new trend is couples creating a new shared name for their new life together.  Do you believe a woman should change her last name to her husbands?  Should couples share the same name with a hyphen?  Is creating a new name a better option?  Call the show and join the discussion!
