BRIDGEWATER (24/7 NewsSource/WBZ-AM) -- A motorcyclist is dead and a man is facing OUI charges following a Thursday morning crash in Bridgewater.

Anthony Hathaway, 29 of Whitman, is charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of drugs and other offenses.

Police say Hathaway was passing a vehicle in a no passing zone around 11:50 a.m. when he slammed head on into an oncoming motorcycle on Bedford Street/Route 18--all with a seven-year-old child in the back set of his car. The child was unharmed.

The rider was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The rider has not yet been identified.

Paul Mancinelli was working outside of a nearby body shop at the time. He told WBZ-TV Hathaway's car came barrelling toward him, crashing into a parked SUV and narrowly missing him.

"Seen a car coming at me, and I didn't know which way to go," Mancinelli said. "Thank God there was another vehicle out there that stopped that car. I probably wouldn't be standing here."

Route 18 was closed for several hours from Cottage Street to Winter Street while police investigated the crash.

Hathaway is due to be arraigned sometime Friday in Brockton District Court.
