WEST BROOKFIELD, MA (WBZ-AM) -- A man has been charged with killing a mother and her three children in West Brookfield.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said that Matthew Locke,32, of Wareham, was charged with 4 counts of murder in the death of Sara Bermudez and her children 8-year-old Madison, 6-year-old James and 2-year-old Michael in March.
Locke ,cousin of Bermudez's husband, Moses Bermudez, has been in custody since March 26 on charges of misleading the Police investigation. Early said that a thorough investigation, DNA and other evidence contributed to the additional charges.
Early emphasized that this is still a very active investigation and they're asking the public for any information about Locke.
Prosecutors say Locke told investigators Bermudez's husband implied the gang MS-13 was responsible, however police say the two men didn't see each other after the killings. Locke's attorney was killed last month when a crowbar crashed through his car windshield.
Locke is set to be arraigned at 2 PM Wednesday at East Brookfield District Court, It wasn't immediately clear if he has a new lawyer.
