WORCESTER (24/7 NewsSource) -- The financing package designed to bring minor league baseball to Worcester has cleared its first hurdle.
The Worcester City Council's economic development committee yesterday approved the borrowing of 100-million-dollars to build the ballpark. The panel also approved tax credits for the company that will lead the 240-million-dollar redevelopment around the ballpark.
The Pawtucket Red Sox have agreed to relocate to Worcester after failing to reach a stadium deal in Rhode Island.
