BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Last night's Red Sox win took a scary turn for one fan who was hit with a bat.
The bat came flying out of Devon Travis's hands in the 8th inning. It cleared the protective netting and landed 15 rows up, hitting a man in the head.
Ballpark staff rushed to help him. He eventually stood up with a towel over his head, and the crowd cheered as he gave a fist pump, signaling he was okay.
The man was eventually taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for further evaluation.
Fenway Park has expanded safety netting along the baseline following similar incidents in the ballpark in the past few years.
