LAWRENCE (24/7 NewsSource) -- Columbia Gas is withdrawing its rate hike proposal after last week's gas emergency caused fire and explosions in the Merrimack Valley.

The utility company announced yesterday it was withdrawing its pending rate case. Columbia Gas originally filed in April and a settlement had already been reached. If it went into effect, it would have increased rates for 321 thousand customers.
