State Public Health Reports Hepatitis A Out Break In Massachusetts

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) --  The Department of Public Health reports a Hepatitis A outbreak in Massachusetts resulting in one death.

They say that 65 cases are diagnosed, among the homeless and substance abusing population. 

State Epidemiologist Dr. Catherine Brown, says outbreaks among similar populations are also reported in ten other states. Almost 70-percent of the cases were reported in Boston.

Hepatitis A is associated with living in unsanitary conditions and poor hygiene.
