3 People Sentenced For Kidnapping, Assaulting Teenage Girl

BOSTON (AP) — Three Massachusetts residents have been sentenced to state prison for keeping a 16-year-old girl in a basement that a police officer described as a "torture chamber."

The Telegram and Gazette reports that three of the four people who were indicted on charges of kidnapping and assaulting the teenager in Auburn in December were sentenced Friday after they pleaded guilty in Superior Court. A fourth defendant didn't enter a plea agreement.

Police say the teenager was sexually assaulted and had her hair shaved off.

Krystal Lugo, 24, her brother, 20-year-old Christopher Lugo, and 23-year-old Yuriel Torres-Abee received sentences ranging from two years to four years.

Yuleny Ortiz, 20, is scheduled to return to court in November.

Prosecutors have said they held the girl because they thought she knew who was responsible for a home invasion.
