WAREHAM (AP) -- A Massachusetts police chief called the rescue of five people who were thrown into the water after their boat hit a buoy "miraculous."
Wareham acting Chief John Walcek says officers responded at about 8 p.m. Monday to reports of a loud crash and people screaming for help in the Cape Cod Canal. Two officers, including one who jumped in the water, saved the people while fighting strong currents and darkness.
