BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- So often the last couple postseasons--never mind those regular seasons--John Farrell's managerial moves, leadership, and overall demeanor were questioned by fans, media and, behind closed doors, Red Sox players and staff.

But, after 111 wins and counting, first-year Sox skipper Alex Cora is lauded by just about everyone.

Over the last two games in New York to eliminate the Yankees from the Division Series, every decision Cora made with his lineup or pitching staff worked out.

Last night's winner Rick Porcello adores the man.

"He's incredible," Porcello said. "I absolutely love playing for him. I love him. He's unbelievable. He's a godsend for us."

Mookie Betts, what's Alex meant to your team?

"Everything," Betts said. "We returned a lot of guys, and he didn't come in and try to change anything--he just let us be free. I think he's done a great job in doing that."

Red Sox chairman Tom Werner told WBZ Cora's been a difference-maker.

"He gets an enormous amount of credit," Werner said. "But in the end, it's a great team, they won 108 games. They deserve to be in the American League Championship series, and the two best teams in the American League are going to duke it out."
