Softball Coach Accused Of Attempting To Solicit Minor For Sex

PELHAM, N.H. (WBZ-AM) -- A local high school softball coach is accused of soliciting a teen for sex through social media, Nashua Police say. This, following a sting where a detective posed as a 15-year-old girl.

Michael Soby, a 59-year-old from Pelham, is no longer the head varsity softball coach at Lexington Christian Academy, according to the school’s website.

Police say Soby had been in contact with the pseudo teenager over social media and was traveling to Nashua for a sexual encounter on Monday when he was arrested.

Soby is charged with a felony of certain uses of computer services prohibited. He faces up to seven years in prison, if convicted. He was released on $500 cash bail and will be arraigned at Hillsborough County Superior Court South on October 18.

Lexington Christian named Soby head coach this year. The private school houses grades six through 12.

Nashua Police said they also arrested a 63-year-old Massachusetts man in the same sting operation.
