Worcester's Kelley Square Prepares For Makeover

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Between 2013 and 2016, Kelly Square in Worcester had 403 reported car crashes, including one fatality. Now with the Red Sox AAA team moving to Worcester in a few years, the intersection is on the fast track to improvements.

Last night about 100 people showed up for the first public comments on the improvements, but the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, which doesn't have set plans for construction yet, concedes it won't solve every issue.

"We're not going to solve every problem," A MassDOT representative said. "Not everyone is going to walk away a hundred percent happy."

Though there are still questions about the exact improvements, work is expected to begin next fall with completion set for 2021.
