Woman Shot, Killed In Car In Dorchester

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- A 24-year-old woman was found shot and killed in a car in Dorchester Monday night.

Police responded to the call around 9:30 p.m. near Charles and Distance Streets. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Too many guns on the street, and a lot of people are asking for gun reforms," Boston Police Commissioner William Gross told WBZ-TV. "If it's your first, second, or third time, you should be going to jail, not on the street."

Gross also called for the public's help, asking anyone with information about the murder to contact police.

This was the 47th homicide in Boston this year, and the eighth in the last ten days. Police are checking to see if there is any connection to a fatal shooting across the street that happened last Thursday.

WBZ NewsRadio1030's Bernice Corpuz reports.
