Excluding Unvaccinated Students? In Worcester, a message reportedly went out to families last Friday from the school department saying students who had not received the state’s required vaccinations as of Monday would not be permitted to attend school. As of Monday, the number of students who needed their shots had fallen to below ten percent. The district coordinator of nursing services, Debra McGovern, said “What we’re trying to do is work with the kids, we’re not just sending them home.” The policy does make exceptions for families with religious objections to vaccinations and to children who cannot get vaccinated for medical reasons.
