Man Dies After Police Shooting

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a man who was shot by police after brandishing a knife at two officers has died.

The Plymouth County District Attorney's office announced Sunday that 25-year-old Christopher Calabro died Friday evening hours after he was shot in Brockton.

The prosecutor's office says Calabro was shot near 209 Court Street after he brandished a knife at two Brockton police officers who were called to the area on a report of a man with a knife.

Calabro, of Brockton, was first taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and then transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Cape and Islands District Attorney's office will be conducting an independent review of the shooting at the request of the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.
