Massachusetts To Kick Off Week Highlighting STEM Education

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts is kicking off a week of activities highlighting the importance of teaching young people about science, technology, engineering and math — also known as STEM education.

On Monday, Republican Gov. Charlie Baker will be joined by Democratic U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy to kick off STEM Week in Massachusetts at the Dearborn STEM Academy in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston.

On Tuesday, the Museum of Science in Boston will host state Education Secretary James Peyser and students from Fenway High School to discuss the importance of science and technology education.

The students are part of a group who visit the museum every week with their teachers as part of their science course.

The students use the museum as their classroom and learn science by teaching it as museum volunteers.
