PAWTUCKET, RI (WBZ-AM) -- Several people have been rushed to area hospital after an interior collapse in an historic mill building Monday morning.
A massive emergency response could be be seen outside the old Hope Artiste Building at 115 Esten Avenue.
Local emergency officials say that at least three construction workers were hurt, one critically when the collapsed happened.
Wil Arboleda, a spokesman for the City of Pawtucket, tells WBZ NewsRadio1030's Nichole Davis that the building was currently being rehabbed into 140 units and appears one of the stairwells inside the building collapsed between the second and first floors.
No one was living inside the building at the time of the collapse. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and local building officials will investigate the cause of the collapse.
