BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) – New Englanders visiting the big apple may notice some eye-brow raising signs on litter baskets this weekend. Someone is having some fun at the expense of New England sports fans.
Weeks after the Red Sox beat the NY Yankees in the ALCS, posters have cropped up, appearing on official New York City trash cans, depicting a man wearing a Patriots Jersey and a Red Sox cap, sipping a Sam Adams.
The caption reads "Keep NYC trash free." A spokeswoman for the New York City Sanitation Department tells WBZ NewsRadio1030’s Kim Tunnicliffe the posters were not created or sanctioned by the city.
She says they do not condone what she's calling the unlawful defacement of public property and they've told the street artist to knock it off. If he or she doesn't, the department will fine the artist $75-dollars for each poster they find and remove.
Let's see if similar Yankees posters start showing up on Boston trash cans.
