Police Searching Boston Vietnam Memorial Vandals

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM)-- Mass State Police are asking for the public's help in finding who made some extensive damage to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester Thursday.

Police say they received a report from a woman who noticed the vandalism Thursday afternoon. They determined that an American Flag was cut and a Massachusetts flag was taken off the flag pole, taken into the woods with trash dumped on top of it. In addition, a brick was thrown at the memorial leaving marks on the stone.

A POW-MIA flag at the memorial is missing and was apparently taken. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with info is urged to call Mass State Police South Boston at 617-740-7710
