BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Xander Bogaerts told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Adam Kaufman that there was a lot of pressure going into this postseason.

"Coming into this game, 108 season wins, I know there was a lot of talk and a lot of expectation on us to win it all or else the season was a waste," he said.

Of course, as Bogaerts said, everyone did their best and the Red Sox came out on top, winning the 2018 World Series. But Bogaerts added that the critics and the haters only added fuel to the team's championship efforts.

"You know what helped us? Them trolls from other teams," Bogaerts said. "Yankees trolled us. Astros trolled us, with the "do damage" the other day, with Muncie hitting a home run, they wrote "do damage.

Bogaerts was referring to the above post by the Dodgers, which answered the Sox' "Do Damage" motto with a video of Max Muncy's Game 3-winning home run and the words "Damage Done." As one fan commented after the Sox' series win, "looks like this bad boy didn’t age very well."

"Hey, we're human, man. And I think knowing what happened with the last two series, and them doing it again to us ... it definitely helped, I believe that definitely helped."
