Allston-Brighton Restaurant Front Facade Collapsed, 2 Injured

Brighton Building Collapse

(Boston Fire Department)

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — Emergency crews responded to building collapse at 85 Harvard Ave. in Allston-Brighton Sunday. The call came in around 3 p.m.

The front facade of Common Ground restaurant collapsed. Two people were injured with one in critical condition.

“I would advise anyone out and about to avoid the area. It has generated some heavy traffic. Boston police have Harvard Avenue closed off on both ends,” Boston Fire Department representative Marc Sanders said.

There is concern that the remaining facade from 75 to 85 Harvard Ave. could come down, according to Sanders.

“What caused it [is] unknown. But, it appears to have occurred suddenly without warning,” Sanders said.
