BEVERLY, Mass. (AP) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health says it is looking into the theft of nearly 18,000 pills from a hospital and its satellite locations.

The Salem News reports that 49-year-old Lisa Tillman pleaded not guilty to larceny in connection with the pill thefts last week.

Tillman worked overnight as a pharmacy technician, and police say she changed computer records to mark the drugs, many of which were opioids, as outdated.

Police say she removed the drugs from automated dispensing machines at Beverly Hospital and Bayridge Hospital among other locations.

Authorities say most of the drugs included Percocet, Vicodin and OxyContin.

A Department of Public Health spokeswoman says an investigation into Beverly Hospital is ongoing.

A hospital spokesman previously said it is cooperating with the investigation.

Tillman's attorney has not commented.
