Heavy Rains Cause Roof Collapse Of Duxbury Nursing Home

Roof Collapse at Duxbury Nursing Home

(Duxbury Fire Department)

DUXBURY, MA (WBZ-AM) — Heavy rain’s Friday night caused the roof of a Duxbury nursing home to collapse.

All 72 patients at the Baypath Nursing Home had to be moved after rains damaged the roof, causing it to collapse.

Two patients went home with their families. The other 70 patients were transported by ambulance. No injuries were reported.

“There was some work being done on the roof. I’m not sure what happened up there, but there’s a major leak coming in on the second floor. It’s just coming right down to the first floor,” Duxbury Fire Captain Rob Reardon said.

The building will now have to be condemned.
