BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM)--Red Sox analyst Jerry Remy says he is cancer free. He tweeted the news Saturday after his first scan since undergoing treatment in August. Remy, who celebrated his 66th birthday on Thursday, took a leave of absence from the booth after his diagnosis. returning for a few games in September.
Remy has faced multiple battles with lung cancer since being diagnosed in 2008. twice last year he faced recurrences, one in February and then again in June. Last spring he underwent chemotherapy and surgery, which caused him to miss most of the second half of that season.
Jerry Remy has been NESN's Red Sox announcer since 1988. He played for the Red Sox from 1978-84.
