Student at Boston High School Stabs Classmate With Pencil

Test with broken Pencil

BOSTON (AP) — A 15-year-old student at a Boston high school has been charged with using a pencil to stab another student in the leg during a fight.

An officer assigned to Brighton High School responded to the fight in a hallway just before 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The injured student, also 15, was taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

The suspect was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He pleaded not guilty and was held on $25,000 bail.

No names were released because both boys are juveniles.

Students stayed in their classrooms during "safe mode" for about 90 minutes.

Boston Public Schools is conducting its own investigation and says both students will be subject to disciplinary measures.
