BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) — Meat produced by farmers in Maine is going nationwide, after the state's department of agriculture signed an agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service.

Previously meat produce in Maine could only be sold in Maine.

Maine is the fifth state to sign an agreement with the USDA and the only state on the east coast to do so.
