ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ-AM) — Businesses in the Merrimack Valley area affected by the Columbia Gas explosions are now open.
Andover held a Small Business Saturday event. The town broke out fire trucks for the kids and Andover Business, Arts, and Cultural director Ann Ormond handed out tote bags.
“We’re stronger as a region. There’s been a silver lining throughout all of this and it’s really to bring … a spotlight to the downtowns again, to say, ‘You have to shop local,’” Ormond said. “It’s great to go to the mall. Of course we always want to do that. Great to shop online, but we really want to make sure that we promote downtown brick and mortar businesses.”
