Peace Promoted Inside Suffolk County Jail

BOSTON, Mass (WBZ-AM) — The idea of peace was promoted in at the Suffolk County House of Corrections.

Suffolk County Sherriff Stevens Thompkins was joined by District Attorney-Elect Rachel Rollins and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh to highlight the agency's Peace Unit, which stands for Positive Energy Always Creates Elevation.

Keith Merriman is not wearing prison blues. He's been here and he's not coming back

"Faith in knowing that if I go for a job I can get that, if I want to go to school I can go there, If I want to open my business I can do that. Another thing with the faith is knowing that you don't have to come into this back gate no more — peace," Merriman said.

Peace is geared towards men 18 to 25 with the goal of ensuring their lives change when they leave jail.
