Bus Crash Injures 1 In Brockton

BROCKTON, MA (WBZ-AM) — Emergency crews in Brockton responded to a bus crash Thursday morning. 

Brockton Police tell WBZ NewsRadio that the serious crash happened near 408 East Street around 8 a.m. 

They say that a Brockton Area Transit Bus (BAT) went off the road and that the person who called it in said that the driver was injured and possibly trapped. 

They also confirmed that a hydrant was damaged.

According to WBZ-TV, eyewitness say about 15 firefighters were trying to remove someone from the bus and that a MedFlight helicopter was called for assistance.

Deputy Fire Chief, Jerry Kenney tells WBZ-TV that the bus driver is a 59-year-old woman and that it was difficult to get her out of the bus because of the sheet metal that was wrapped around her foot. 

Two passengers were onboard at the time. All have non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is still unknown and is under investigation.
