LAWRENCE (WBZ-AM) -- Two people were killed in a head-on, wrong-way crash involving multiple vehicles Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened around 1 p.m. on I-495 Northbound just north of Exit 41 in Lawrence. State Police said traffic was being detoured to I-93.
State Police tweeted around 3 p.m. that all lanes were re-opened.
The two people killed in the crash have not yet been identified.
"One car came in the opposite direction," said Lawrence Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Lockland. "There was a guard rail and just before the guardrail began, that's where the car went over the median. We had a head-on collision."
