BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- For the first time in a century, snowballs will be flying freely in Severance, Colorado.

That's right--snowball fighting was illegal in the Rocky Mountain town under a more than hundred-year-old ordinance. But nine-year-old Dane Best found that law unjust.

Best  told CBS4 in Denver he wanted to challenge it in the halls of power--with mom's permission, of course.

"I asked my mom if I could do it, and she called the town hall, and then she told me to make a speech," he said.

So Dane appeared before a town board meeting this week and, armed with letters and a petition from fellow concerned citizens, the board backed him by unanimous vote.
