Former baseball superstar and current analyst Alex Rodriguez joined the Pardon My Take podcast this week and took Red Sox fans back in time to 2003 when he was nearly traded from Texas to Boston. The trade ultimately never materialized, but Rodriguez desperately wanted it to happen.
"They already had jerseys of me, and I could feel it - I wanted to go play in that place," Rodriguez said. "And all of a sudden - boom! I think the game felt it. I know I certainly felt it, I was saddened by it. I went out one night... There's a place called Life, and I just got toasted drunk that night - threw up - I was so bummed. Anyways, I went back home, and just dust[ed] off, and said 'Okay, let's go. Gotta go play ball.'"
Since that ill-fated potential trace, the Red Sox have won four World Series.
