Brockton Bank Crash Leaves Driver Injured, Light Poles Downed

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) -- A car has crashed through a bank in Massachusetts and flipped over in a dramatic crash that seriously injured its driver.

The Brockton Enterprise reports that 51-year-old Robert Morano suffered a serious chest injury when his car crashed into the side of a Webster Bank in Brockton early Friday morning.

Police say Morano had been speeding and failed to negotiate a slight curve near the bank. His car hit a curb, went airborne and crashed through a large window before landing on its roof. Morano was trapped inside. The car also destroyed a light pole and two handicapped parking signs.

Morano faces a court summons for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and possibly other charges. He's being treated at a Boston hospital but his condition wasn't immediately clear.
