BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- It was a crushing loss for the Patriots yesterday in Miami after Kenyan Drake's touchdown off a pair of laterals in the closing seconds resulted in the winning score.

But, for Tom Brady, a loss is a loss.

"I've had some pretty tough losses in my career," Brady said. "We got a lot of football left, and we'll see if we can play a lot better next week."

In Pittsburgh against the reeling Steelers. Hopefully. Pats are still clinging to the second seed in the AFC.

Special teams captain Matthew Slater told WBZ TV this defeat won't break his bunch. In fact, it's a character-building opportunity.

"When things are going well for you all the time and always going your way, it's hard to build character," he said. "I think when you face adversity, things don't go your way, you have to find a way to respond. It builds character. I certainly believe that the men in this locker room have that perspective. We have enough men with enough resolve and the right guiding force to understand that, hey, this is what we're dealing with, and this is how we need to respond going forward."

Couldn't have been a fun flight home.
