BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Anthony Davis doesn't play for the Celtics--at least not yet, right? That's just a Green-teamer fantasy right now--but you wouldn't have known it listening to the ovation the Pelicans superstar received last night at the Garden.
"I heard it tonight, but, you know, I'm focused on this team," he said. "I'm trying to do whatever I can to help this team get wins with the roster we have. It's been a rocky season, so it's on me to try to figure it out."
Davis is technically under contract with New Orleans thru next season, but he's 26, a top-five player in the league on a struggling team, and Boston has as many assets to offer in a trade package as anyone.
Don't expect this noise to quiet down any time soon. But, remember, as things stand the Celts can't legally trade for Davis until July 1st--if the Pelicans are willing to deal him in the first place.
