NEWTON, MA (WBZ-AM) — Police and Fire crews are responding to a three-car-crash in Newton.
In a tweet, Newton Fire says that the crash happened on Route 9 Eastbound near Parker Street Tuesday afternoon.
The roadway is closed as the accident is spread in the two lanes, a utility pole severely damaged and a leaking transformer.
There were no major injuries. Fire officials say that a HAZMAT team has responded to the crash and that the road "will likely be shut down until the damaged pole is replaced."
Drivers should avoid Rt. 9 and seek alternate routes.
