BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Patriots have a pair of home games left, but finished the regular season 3-5 on the road--their most losses outside Foxboro since going 2-6 in 2009.

Pats made the playoffs that year with 10 wins, but fell to the Ravens Wild Card weekend.

It's easy to think back to NFL Films' "A Football Life" on Bill Belichick, and this conversation late in a November 2009 lop-sided loss in New Orleans between the coach and QB Tom Brady, heard below:

"Got a long way to go, I'm telling you," Belichick said in that conversation. "We just have no mental toughness. We go on the road, we have no mental toughness. We can't play the game the way we need to play it. It's not them either, it's totally us, it's just totally us. We have to find a way here to be a tougher team when we get on the road. I just can't get this team to play the way we need to play, I just can't do it. It's so ******* frustrating."

"We do it in spurts, we just don't do it for four quarters," Brady said.

"No, and the tougher it gets, the less likely we are to do it," Belichick responded.

Sounds a lot like something you might hear on the sidelines this year, doesn't it?

Two games left 'til the playoffs, and possibly another road test or two to reach the Super Bowl.
