CHARLESTOWN (WBZ-AM) -- A spruce-up for the Charlestown Navy Yard could include a giant Ferris wheel.

The Boston Planning and Development Agency is looking to turn the area into a destination--with more than just Old Ironsides.

The agency released presentations from several design firms to transform the three-mile Harborwalk section that runs through the Navy Yard. One company proposed a 185-foot Ferris wheel that would shine across Boston Harbor at night. Other plans include beer gardens, canoe and kayak launches, a co-working space, a new events pavilion, and more.

All of the proposed redevelopment plans can be viewed on the Boston Planning and Development Agency website.
