BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is not issuing transcripts of tax returns due to the partial government shutdown. The Massachusetts Association of Realtors President-elect Anne Meczywor said that without the transcripts, some borrowers are having trouble obtaining loans to buy homes.
“There are some lenders who are making exceptions to requiring that form,” Meczywor said. “It’s just really imperative to have your realtor be in very close contact with the lender and see what their requirements are.”
According to Meczywor, the association will not be able to quantify the exact impact of the shutdown until mid-January.
