BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn wants Boston City Council to hold a hearing to ensure Boston’s veterans are not neglected during the partial government shutdown.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is not one of the departments impacted financially by the partial government shutdown. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is impacted.

Some veterans are concerned that benefits for veteran housing, administered by HUD, may be questionable but the Department of Veterans Affairs told WBZ NewsRadio1030’s Karyn Regal in a statement that that is not the case, and that those programs are fully funded.

Councilor Flynn, himself a Navy veteran, is urging the council to look into the matter.
