WORCESTER (WBZ-AM) — The fund to support the daughter of fallen Worcester firefighter Christopher Roy is thriving.

Roy was killed while trapped in a burning building earlier this month, leaving behind 9-year-old daughter Ava Roy. A fund was set up for her by the Local 1009 Firefighter’s Union in Worcester.

“The total collected by the fund is just over $362,000,” Union President Michael Papagni said. “There’s just been an influx of mail into our Credit Union.”

There will also be fundraisers in Worcester at New Year’s Eve celebrations. According to Papagni, the goal is to ensure Roy’s daughter never wants for anything.
