Bruins Arrive At Winter Classic Dressed As 'Peaky Blinders'

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Boston Bruins doubled up the Blackhawks 4-2 in the Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium yesterday, but the story of the game came long before the opening face-off, when the entire B's team showed up dressed as Peaky Blinders - the notorious 20th century British gangsters - with wool suits and matching newsboy caps.

Patrice Bergeron said many of Boston's players went to the same tailor, but where did the idea come from? "We had a Halloween party and a lot of guys dressed up as Peaky Blinders, and by the end of the night, we wanted to do that for the winter classic," Bergeron explained. "We all loved the idea and went on with it."

Defenseman John Moore told NBC Sports Boston that B's players became big fans of the "Peaky Blinders" Netflix show during their preseason trip to China. Team veterans apparently thought it'd be fitting to channel their inner gangster before playing at the home of the Fighting Irish.
