ATTLEBORO (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been charged with threatening his mother's boyfriend with a sword.
The Sun Chronicle reports that 23-year-old Robert Coughlin pleaded not guilty to charges including assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and was held when he had bail revoked in an unrelated malicious damage case.
Police say the Attleboro man used a sword to threaten the other man during an argument last week.
Coughlin's attorney says his client picked up the sword to defend his mother during the dispute and cooperated fully with police. Officers also recovered the sword outside the home.
