BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — Police caught a man in Pennsylvania they say abducted a woman and child in New Hampshire.

Everett Simpson, of Vermont, was caught in Upper Darby, Pa. after a search by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and police in Vermont and New Hampshire.

According to Vermont State Police, Simpson randomly kidnapped the woman and child outside the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester, N.H. Saturday.

According to officials, Simpson took them to a hotel in White River Junction, Vt.

"[Simpson] forced the woman to get a room at a local hotel, and then sexually assaulted the victim inside the room," Vermont State Police spokesman Adam Silverman told WBZ NewsRadio1030's Shari Small

Investigators said she and the child were able to escape when Simpson left the room.

Simpson stole a car from a substance-abuse facility in eastern Vermont three days before the abductions, according to investigators. He will now be extradited back to Vermont to face charges.
