Northbridge Man Blocks Park Access in Army Corps Dispute

NORTHBRIDGE, MA (WBZ-AM) — A Northbridge man is blocking access to a popular walking park in town because of a dispute he's having with the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Ross Smith of Northbridge put up a blockade on West Hill Rd, which he claims belongs to him, because of a dispute with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He says road leading to the park, which is run by the Army Corps of Engineers, is part of his property. He tells WBZ NewsRadio that he wants the Government to meet w/him.

Smith says that Army Corps of Engineers won’t let him build a house on his Northbridge property due to a flowage easement for controlled flooding.

WBZ NewsRadio's Kim Tunnicliffe (@KimWBZ) reports.
