BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- We had to wait an extra week – not that anyone minded – but the Patriots will finally start their run to a Super Bowl Sunday afternoon in a divisional round showdown with the Chargers. WBZ NewsRadio's Adam Kaufman and Boston Globe NFL reporter Ben Volin preview the match-up in this division-round edition of the Red Zone Report.
So, which team has the better offense?
"I think probably the Chargers, they have more balance," Volin said. "The Patriots, at home, they've still been able to put up points, but they're kind of an enigma right now. We don't really know what we're gonna get out of the Patriots offense. They did look great, they put up some big numbers the last two weeks against the Bills and the Jets, but that's the Bills and the Jets, and I just don't know how much to take out of that."
Tom Brady looked like his old self in Week 17, but not so great the few weeks prior. The Chargers have an elite pass-rush--what’s the key to Brady picking up where he left off and not getting run over?
"Gonna have to get the ball out of his hands quickly this week, and I think a lot of that's gonna revolve around getting the ball to his running backs," Volin said. "I think James White and Rex Burkhead are gonna be a huge part of the offense for the Patriots this Sunday."
Kaufman and Volin also talked about Volin's predictions for the game, how we can expect Rob Gronkowski to perform, whether the Pats' run game is key in this match-up, which team has the advantage on defense, how much home-field advantage matters in this game, whether the Chargers will be impacted by playing back-to-back road games on the East Coast, and more.
