BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — All right, Patriots fans, it's not like we're looking BEYOND the Chiefs in Sunday's AFC Championship Game. Heck, Kansas City's favored by three.
But, hard not to at least CONSIDER the possibility of a Pats-Rams Super Bowl 36 rematch, right? Especially since Eric Dickerson decided to go on Fox Sports 1's "Undisputed" and declare the Patriots cheaters.
"I'll say this to all the Boston fans as I watch this on social media, they're after me: We want a rematch in LA. We want them back again. Because they cheated us! They cheated us. They cheated us. They know they cheated us back in New Orleans. They watched our film. So, we want some more of them," Dickerson said.
Pats upset the Rams 20-17 to knock off the "Greatest Show on Turf"—one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history. Tthere's no proof the Patriots watched film of the Rams prior to that championship match-up, not that that's ever stopped members of the losing side to discuss it.
To get that rematch in Atlanta next month, Pats have to beat the Chiefs on the road, and the now Los Angeles Rams—not St. Louis anymore—would need to defeat the Saints in their building.
A road team hasn't won a conference title game since 2012.
