Teenager Survives Fiery Head-On Collision with Semi-Truck Trailer

A Manchester teenager is recovering in a Boston hospital after he survived a head-on collision with a semi-truck trailer.

Samuel Lachance, 18, was reportedly traveling down Route 101 last Tuesday near Dublin, New Hampshire when his Jeep crossed over the double yellow and drifted directly into the path of a semi-truck trailer traveling the opposite direction. Lachance's vehicle collided with the massive truck, the force of the impact ripping open the trailer's fuel tank causing an explosion and fire, police said.

Video of the fiery collision was captured by Marc Cramer, who was driving behind Lachance when the incident occurred. Cramer and his son John managed to pull Lachance from the burning vehicle. Neither of the Cramers were injured in the accident.

Lachance suffered burns, cuts, and a traumatic brain injury, but doctors do expect the 18-year-old to recover. He was taken to Masschesetts General Hospital according to WCVB. The driver of the truck only suffered minor injuries.

Lachance's mother, Jessica told WCVB that seeing the video of her son's accident was incredibly shocking.

"They say it's a mother's worst nightmare and the worst call you ever want to get. And I can't underestimate how much of that is true," Jessica Lachance said.

Jessica says she will be forever grateful to the Cramers for pulling her son out of the tangled up wreck.

"They took a huge risk to see Sam there and pull him out. And they absolutely, 100 percent, saved Sam's life," she said.
