YARMOUTH, MA (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Cape Cod resort employee is arrested after it was discovered he planted a camera in the shower ceiling of the women's locker room. He is identified by authorities as 25-year-old Anthony Mendes, a convicted felon with 27 prior arrests.

Yarmouth police had been called by a female guest staying at the hotel who had used the gym and noticed a black charger plugged into the wall near the sink in the women's locker room. Then while showering, she found a small hole in a ceiling tile with a blinking blue light.

She moved the tile and a camera fell out. She then went to the front desk and called police. Unfortunately, the suspect was working the front desk and took the camera and charger from the patron.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the hotel and were able to identify Mendes as a man who entered the locker room for over 20 minutes. Police returned to the hotel the next day but Mendes did not show up for work.

He was later found in his girlfriend’s car on Old Townhouse Road, where he was arrested. Mendes is charged with misleading to obstruct justice by tampering with evidence and secret video recording/ electronic surveillance of partial nudity. He was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday and released on $1,000 bail.
